Our History
2010: OKEL was founded by Mark Stephenson, who came with many years of previous experience running successful HVAC companies. OKEL offered system design and installation of high-efficiency commercial heating and cooling solutions for businesses.
2011: OKEL became an approved supplier of the Carbon Trust Scheme, enabling our customers to access Carbon Trust funding to replace inefficient heating and cooling equipment in the workplace with modern, highly efficient alternatives that would drive down their carbon footprint and save money on energy bills.
2013: OKEL introduced Commercial Voltage Optimisation, a new carbon-saving product to complement the portfolio of energy-saving offerings to businesses.
2018: OKEL became an approved installer of Calor UK.
2020: OKEL was the first National commercial heating company to introduce 3-phase electric-fuelled space heaters into our large space heating designs, perfect for customers with no available gas supply or those wanting a greener alternative to gas.

Each of our engineers has over 25 years of experience in their chosen trade, and our investment in experienced engineers ensures that your heating or cooling project will be completed to the highest quality standards, delivered on time, and within the rigorous health and safety protocols expected of our industry.
- Gas Safe. Our team of commercial heating engineers each have over 25 years of experience in the heating industry, and are all Gas Safe registered and fully accredited to work on Natural Gas and LPG commercial and industrial heating projects.
- NICEIC. Our electricians are members of NICEIC, which is an independent voluntary body that regulates and oversees electrical work within the electrical industry. NICEIC continuously monitors and audits the electrical works carried out by its members to ensure they meet the highest industry standards and regulations.
- FGAS. Our cooling engineers are all FGAS-certified and accredited, a mandatory requirement for engineers installing or servicing air conditioning or refrigerant systems.

Most importantly, you’ll have peace of mind knowing that, should a fault develop, we will be on hand to support you with any necessary servicing and repairs.
Energy-Efficient Heating and Cooling Designs
We pride ourselves on sourcing the most energy-efficient HVAC systems, many of which feature on The Energy Technology List, a government list of the most energy-efficient plant and machinery that must meet robust energy-saving criteria.
For heating large open-plan areas such as factories and warehouses, our preferred models of heaters are ERP2021 compliant in accordance with the latest ecodesign directive. In addition, for large open-plan areas with ceilings higher than 5m, our designs often include high-efficiency destratification systems that prevent wasted energy by minimising heat escaping at ceiling height.
