The Challenge
West Atlantic UK approached us for a heating solution for a newly leased warehouse used to store aircraft parts.
The building had no natural gas supply and there was no suitable space for an LPG tank, meaning the solution needed to be electric.
Temperature control was also important, as some of the stored aircraft parts are temperature sensitive and require the warehouse to remain at approximately 15°C.
With increasing supply chain expectations around carbon reduction, West Atlantic also wanted a heating system that would support its wider sustainability and carbon reduction objectives.

The Solution

We proposed a Mitsubishi air-to-air heat pump system, providing an efficient all-electric heating solution without the need for gas or LPG.
The system offers an excellent COP of around 4, meaning it can provide approximately 4kW of heat for every 1kW of electricity consumed under suitable operating conditions.
Another major advantage is that the system can heat and cool, providing useful functionality beyond winter heating. It also includes a drying mode, which can assist with humidity control during warmer weather.
To further improve efficiency, we installed high-level destratification fans to help return warm air from the upper levels of the warehouse back into the occupied space, reducing heat loss and improving heat distribution.
One System for Year-Round Comfort
Unlike a conventional heating system, the Mitsubishi heat pump provides West Atlantic UK with a solution that can support the warehouse throughout the year.
During colder periods, it provides efficient heating to help maintain the required temperature for temperature-sensitive aircraft parts.
In warmer weather, the same system can provide cooling, while the drying function can help manage humidity, giving the customer additional value from the installation.

An Efficient Heating Solution for Aircraft Parts Storage

The system was installed to schedule in July 2025, providing West Atlantic UK with an efficient and flexible heating and cooling solution for its aircraft parts warehouse.
The customer was particularly impressed with the ease of use and the additional summer cooling benefit, giving them a system that offers value throughout the year rather than simply during the heating season.
For West Atlantic UK, the heating system needed to provide more than basic warmth. It had to maintain suitable temperatures for temperature-sensitive aircraft parts, work without gas or LPG and support the customer’s sustainability objectives.
The Mitsubishi air-to-air heat pump, combined with destratification, provided an efficient, low-carbon and versatile solution that can heat, cool and assist with humidity control — making it suitable for the warehouse all year round.
