The Challenge
Trelleborg Sealing Solutions required a new heating system for their warehouse and had already obtained two quotations for a natural gas warm air and destratification system.
As part of their procurement process, they approached OKEL for a third quotation. We proposed a Winterwarm XR+ warm air heating and destratification system, designed to provide efficient and reliable heating for the warehouse.
The project initially faced a challenge when the landlord raised concerns about introducing a new gas system due to EPC requirements, while Trelleborg also has a strong commitment to sustainability.

Finding the Right Solution

To provide a genuine alternative, we prepared a quotation for an electric warm air heating system.
Although electric heating would remove the need for a new gas installation, the higher cost per kW/h meant it would be more expensive to operate than the equivalent gas-fired system.
We therefore demonstrated how the proposed gas solution could combine efficient operation, lower running costs and future-focused technology.
The Solution
Following further discussions, the landlord approved the Winterwarm XR+ gas-fired warm air system with destratification.
The system incorporates:
Fully modulating gas-fired heating, adjusting output to match demand.
Winterwarm XR+ warm air heaters for effective heat distribution.
Destratification fans to return warm air from high level to the occupied space.
Hydrogen-blend-ready technology, providing future flexibility as lower-carbon gas options develop.
The combination provides a highly efficient gas-fired heating solution while helping to minimise unnecessary energy use.

Why Trelleborg Chose Us
After reviewing all three quotations, Trelleborg Sealing Solutions chose our proposal over the other two suppliers.
Our solution offered the right balance of cost-effectiveness, performance and future flexibility, while meeting the customer’s technical and sustainability requirements.
The ability to provide both gas and electric options also allowed us to give the customer a genuine comparison rather than simply recommending one technology.
A Cost-Effective Heating Solution with the Future in Mind

Following landlord approval, the installation progressed smoothly and was completed to plan in March 2026.
Trelleborg now has a modern warehouse heating system designed around efficient operation, lower energy consumption and future sustainability.
The Trelleborg project demonstrates how modern gas-fired heating technology can still provide an efficient and cost-effective solution while considering future sustainability.
By combining fully modulating warm air heating, destratification and hydrogen-blend-ready technology, we delivered a solution that ticked all of Trelleborg’s requirements and ultimately secured the project against two competing quotations.
