The Challenge
M+I Materials required a permanent heating solution for a 6,500m² warehouse and production facility that had previously had no central heating.
The previous winter, the customer had used localised radiant heaters, but these only heated a small area. A full-building solution was required to maintain approximately 16°C.
Temperature was particularly important because M+I Materials works with a grease-type product that becomes thicker in colder conditions, making it more difficult to handle and process.
The building also contains heat-generating machinery and a roller shutter door that is regularly opened, creating additional heat-loss challenges.

The Solution

We installed a Winterwarm XR+ warm air heater, supported by three Winterwarm WCU high-level destratification fans.
The system was designed to distribute heat effectively throughout the large open-plan space, while the destratification fans return warm air from high level back into the occupied area.
An air curtain was also installed above the roller shutter entrance to help minimise heat loss when the door is opened.
Together, the system was designed to provide the required approximately 16°C working temperature while improving overall heat distribution.
Installation Challenge
The site has existing furnaces that require a continuous gas supply, meaning their gas supply could not be interrupted during the installation.
We carefully isolated the section of the gas system serving our new installation, allowing our works to proceed without affecting the existing furnaces or disrupting production.
The Result
The project was successfully completed in February 2026, providing M+I Materials with a permanent heating solution covering the full 6,500m² facility.
By combining warm air heating, destratification and an air curtain, we provided M+I Materials with a practical heating solution designed around the size of the building, its production requirements and the need to maintain a consistent working temperature.
